Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • Fish - 1kg(cleaned and cut into medium sized pieces)


  • Fish tamarind(kudampuli) - 5 nos. (Wash and soak them in water for at least 15 minutes )


  • Shallots - 8 nos.


  • Garlic - 6 nos.


  • Ginger crushed - 1 large


  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tablespoon


  • Coriander powder - 2 tablespoon


  • Kashmiri chilli powder - 3 tablespoon


  • Fenugreek - 2 pinch


  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig


  • Coconut oil - 1 As needed

Directions

  • Mix turmeric powder,coriander powder,chilli powder with enough water to make a paste and keep it aside.
  • Heat coconut oil in a clay pot/meen chatti. Add fenugreek seeds followed by curry leaves.
  • Add onions,garlic and ginger.Turn heat to medium, fry until the mixture turns golden brown.
  • Add masala paste sauté till fried.
  • Add fish tamarind, salt and enough water to cook the fish.Cover and cook till it boils.
  • Add fish. Cover and cook.
  • Check seasoning add salt if needed.Cook till the desired consistency is reached. Switch off the flame.Pour some coconut oil to the curry.This will give nice aroma and taste to the fish curry.Add curry leaves and cover for about 2 minutes.
